The Liberator
William Lloyd Garrison devoted his life’s work to ending slavery in America. Garrison lived in Boston, where he established the Anti-Slavery Society in 1832 and published The Liberator, a small but influential newspaper with national distribution. An ardent abolitionist, Garrison believed the North should separate from the South and called for burning the U.S. Constitution because it permitted slavery.
