Diorama of Lincoln's boyhood home in Indiana, Museum Extension Program in Illinois, c. 1940

Lincoln’s Boyhood Home

One of the most popular Lincoln dioramas depicted young Abe reading by the fire under the watchful eye of his stepmother, Sarah, and his father, Thomas. The entire series of dioramas consisted of twenty scenes; they remained on view at the Chicago Historical Society from 1941 until 1986 when they were removed for renovation purposes.
