Honoring Lincoln
In 1866, Walt Whitman, who had already written Leaves of Grass, penned four poems that expressed his grief over the death of Lincoln, whom he greatly admired. Two of the poems, When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d and O Captain! My Captain! became instant classics, recited by generations of schoolchildren throughout the country. This volume is one of a limited edition of 300 printed on hand-made Italian paper.
