The Assassination
After gaining entrance to the presidential box, Booth shot Lincoln at close range. The shocking event was depicted in a popular print by Currier & Ives that is crudely rendered but essentially accurate. Note that the image of Mary Todd Lincoln is based on a photographic portrait by Mathew B. Brady.
