Lincoln’s Death Bed
Lincoln died on this bed in a small rear bedroom of the Petersen Boarding House across from Ford’s Theatre. Owing to his great height, Lincoln had to lie on an angle with his head resting on a large pillow. The Chicago History Museum acquired the bed and other pieces of furniture from the same room in 1920 as part of the Charles F. Gunther Collection.
